How automatic matching works

The three signals SignSolid uses to pair a transaction with an invoice.

SignSolid compares every bank transaction against your invoices and pairs them up where the evidence is strong enough.

What it compares

  • Amount. The transaction should line up with the invoice total, allowing for small differences from payment processor fees and currency conversion.
  • Supplier. The transaction description is read to work out the supplier, even when the description is abbreviated or full of reference codes.
  • Date. The payment should fall within a sensible window of the invoice date.

It also handles the awkward cases: partial payments, one payment split across several invoices, and several invoices from one supplier settled together.

The three outcomes

OutcomeWhat it means
Auto-matchedAll the signals agree. Accepted without asking you.
SuggestionProbably right, not certain. Waiting for you to confirm.
No matchNothing convincing found. Left for you to match by hand.

The result

Most transactions reconcile on their own, and you only spend time on the handful that genuinely need a human decision.

Troubleshooting

  • An obvious match was not made. The amount, supplier, or date was outside tolerance. Match it by hand and SignSolid learns from it.
  • A wrong suggestion appeared. Reject it. Rejections feed back into future matching.
