A data room is a set of documents shared as a single space, for when one link to one file is not enough. Diligence, fundraising, audits, and board packs are the usual cases.
What a data room adds
- Folders. Organise documents the way the recipient should read them.
- Per person permissions. Decide which people see which folders.
- Group access. Give a whole team access at once instead of person by person.
- Uploads inward. Let the other side put documents in, not just take them out.
- Questions. Let viewers ask about a document in place, rather than by email.
- Analytics across the room. See which documents got attention and which were never opened.
Requesting documents
You can ask for specific documents by name. The other side sees a checklist of what is outstanding and uploads against each item, so you can tell at a glance what is still missing without chasing.
Getting started
- Open Data rooms and create one.
- Add folders and upload your documents.
- Invite viewers and set what each of them can see.
